At Seniors Helping Seniors® Green Valley, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Mary Ganapol firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tucson Estates, and surrounding areas.
After 25 years in the corporate world, Mary Ganapol wanted to shift gears and reach out and help the seniors in the community she loves. She joined Seniors Helping Seniors at-home services because it is exactly the way she wanted to help seniors be there for each other. “I watched my father care for my mother during her last years. With the help of family and friends he was able to give her loving care that helped her to maintain the quality of her life, ” shared Mary. “Once my father himself began to need care, I witnessed firsthand how important it was for him to keep his independence and remain in his own home.
With Seniors Helping Seniors care we are able to help other families support their loved ones with that same independence and quality of life as well.” Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services matches seniors who need help with seniors who want to help. This peer-to-peer assistance allows seniors in need to receive care from someone whom they can trust and relate. At the same time, seniors who want to help are able to remain active in their community and often form lasting relationships with the seniors for whom they can bring caring. “We truly believe the best caregiver for a senior is a senior. Our providers are senior advocates, family liaisons and great friends, all in one!” said Mary. The senior providers who work with Mary offer many non-medical home care services such as: Companionship and respite care Meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping Transportation needs House maintenance, small repairs, yard work Alzheimer’s/dementia assistance Over night stays (24-hour care) Pet Care Mary, who was born in San Diego and moved to Tucson in 1996, fell in love with the beauty of the Southwest.
For the past 12 years, prior to starting Seniors Helping Seniors home care, she worked as a Federal contractor conducting background investigations for national security clearances at government facilities. In addition to her work, Mary is active in her community including memberships with Pima Council on Aging, Friends of Pima County Library, Friends of Saguaro National Park, Tohono Chul Park and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. “My corporate experience has given me the people skills and organizational skills that I know will add value to my work with Seniors Helping Seniors,” said Mary. “Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote: ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question: what are you doing for others?’ I decided my role for my community would be to bring seniors together to help each other age gracefully, with the quality of life and respect they deserve."
